10:31am Tuesday 8th May 2007 in Local Sports Round-up By Lee Martin
George Sheedy of Foley ABC in Claygate came out the majority winner against J Wynne of Ruislip ABC on the Ruislip Dinner Show on Friday, May 4, at The Trailfinders Sports Club in Ealing.
The junior bout over three 90-second rounds at 46kg saw Sheedy dominate from the first bell pushing back Wynne with an all action style, scoring with a flurry of punches to the head and body.
The second round started in a similar fashion but the Ruislip fighter came more into the contest boxing off his back foot - he landed good scoring punches.
In an all-action final round both boxers took it to each other in rousing style.
Sheedy finished the stronger of the two boxers to fully justify the victory.
In another junior bout Jake Woods of Foley ABC lost a majority decision to G Kean of Times ABC -the fight was awarded best bout of the night by the referee.
Woods was by far the better technical boxer but Kean was a strong boy and never stopped coming forward.
Kean had stopped his previous two opponents and Woods who was giving away weight struggled to keep his man off.
Woods tried to box at range scoring with clean jabs into the face of Kean, but Kean's aggression swayed the judges in what was a close, but fair decision.
