Philip Hammond was comfortably re-elected to the Runnymede and Weybridge seat this morning.
He added more than 4,000 votes to the last election and gained more than 55 per cent of the vote as Surrey stayed true to its blue roots.
He even found time for a nap before arriving at the count, confident he had done enough.
The resuls came in at 3.30am and a jubilant Mr Hammond said: "It's a very good result and I'm pleased with that.
"It's support for the party nationally but also a bit of what I have done locally and the support I have built up over the years."
He said he hoped to be in the Treasury come Monday morning, to tackle the national deficit.
