The long-awaited opening of The Bowman Gallery in Richmond is being marked by an exhibition of pictures and sculpture by artist Michael Cook. Proprietor David Bowman clocks up over 40 years in the art trade, and coupled with Michael Cook’s 60, the Private View on Saturday 19th June guaranteed a big turn out despite the World Cup and rather chilly weather. Nonetheless, as visitors spilled out onto the street, and in some desperate cases the neighbouring pubs, Mr Bowman was amazed and delighted to welcome a constant stream of well-wishers, some having travelled from as far afield as Manchester. “I’m very pleased with the attendance. The atmosphere here is great and the feedback on the artwork and gallery is extremely positive,” said Mr Bowman.
Works by Michael Cook, a member of the Association of British Artists since the mid 1970s, have been purchased for private collections in the USA, Europe, Australia and the UK. The exhibition is now open to the public and is on until 17th July. In addition to period and contemporary artwork The Bowman Gallery also offer a conservation/restoration and bespoke framing service.
